I’m a photographer and actor based in San Francisco Bay area, California.
I started my journey as a photographer when I needed headshots for myself and couldn’t afford paying for someone to take them.
I figured photographers were thieves who overcharge for a simple picture and decided to learn how to do it myself. So in 2013, I borrowed a DSLR camera, some bed-sheets for a backdrop, and light-bulbs for lighting. This is how I would beat the system! (or so I thought) Well, lo-and-behold, a very amateur and frustrated photographer was born. My own shots were horrible. I couldn’t understand how a picture with only your face could be so complicated.
It took me thousands of dollars and about 3 years of practice before I could professionally use any of my shots. In retrospect, it would have been much cheaper to pay for 10-years worth of headshots than to become a photographer.
However, the journey was tremendously enlightening. I became enthralled with photography as more than a hobby and decided to become a professional. What started out as a personal challenge has now turned into a passion. I learned about our human nature looking through the lens as much I did acting on stage. It was a different approach, and in a very literal way, a closer look into bringing character to life.
